The Big Big Jazz Band, Inc

The Big Big Jazz Band was organized in 1968, as the Bob Troxell Big Big Jazz Band to serve as the pit orchestra at the Fulton Theater for a Lancaster politics-spoofing show written by Donald Goldstrom, the first guitarist in the band. For over 50 years we have been serving Lancaster county and surrounding areas with Gary Peters as the current Musical Director.

Thus far in its history, the big band has played for over 400 fund-raising benefit performances, concerts for community organizations, jazz worship services, funerals and other church-related occasions. It is estimated they have helped to raise over three-quarters of a million dollars to meet these organization’s operating needs. The musical library has well over 500 arrangements of tunes, both secular and some religious; many are reminiscent of the exciting sounds of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, the Dorsey Brother’s Bands, etc.

Past performances have included: Organ Fund Benefit dance for 1st Presbyterian Church, Camp Hill, a concert at Cornwall Manor, Methodist Retirement Community, Lancaster Iris Club Boxwood Ball Charities Dance, Jazz Mass at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Lancaster, Cleft Palate Clinic Benefit show at American Music Theater, Lititz, USO benefit Dance for Lititz Public Library, Boys and Girls Club of Lancaster fund raising benefit at Lancaster Country Club, a concert at Willow Valley Retirement Community, concerts at the American Cancer Society "Relay for Life", a concert in Lancaster Square for the Lancaster Summer Arts Festival, Jazz Worship services at First U.
